Australian right-handed batsman Glenn Maxwell opened the innings for the first time in his T20I career at Pallekele. His unbeaten knock of 145 runs guided the visitors to break some records against the home team, Sri Lanka.

3.) Sri Lanka has lost 12 out of the 15 T20I matches they played this year which is the most by any team in calendar year.
4.) Australia’s winning margin of 85 runs is the highest by any team against Sri Lanka in T20I’s.
5.) Australia’s total of 263/3 is now the highest total in T20I’s. They broke the previous record of 260/6 posted by Sri Lanka against Kenya in 2007.
6.) Australia’s total of 263/3 is now the joint highest total in a T20 match. They equaled Royal Challengers Bangalore’s record of 263/3 against Pune Warriors India in IPL 2013.
