The Ashes on-field barbs continued on Day 1 of the second Ashes Test as Australia’s skipper Steve Smith and England’s pacemen Stuart Broad and James Anderson clashed in Adelaide.

Broad at one point had his fingers in his ears before, sometime later, umpire Aleem Dar was forced to cool a heated back-and-forth between the fast bowler and Steve Smith.

Smith’s animated actions to his partner raised eyebrows and drew smiles from the slip cordon as batsman and bowler Broad exchanged words.

The chat continued at the end of the over as the pair swapped verbals before umpire Aleem Dar waded in and looked to calm the pair down.

Smith also exchanged few words with Anderson in a ferocious contest; by the way, they interacted in the centre of Adelaide Oval before umpire Aleem Dar had to intervene once again.
