England’s Jos Buttler has been in outstanding touch for the Sydney Thunder with a man of the match 67 and another 80 against the Hobart Hurricanes on New Year’s Day.
He was dismissed playing the ramp shot against the Adelaide Strikers two weeks ago but it didn’t deter him from bringing the shot out in his last two outings. The highlight coming when he lifted a Tymal Mills delivery from outside the off stump over the fine leg boundary.
By his own admission, Buttler has mastered the shot and keeps playing it time-to-time, at least in the shortest format of the game.

“I get out countless times to forward defence and I’ve never tried to put that shot away. It’s the same with a ramp shot,” Buttler said.
“It’s been a huge strength in my game for a number of years and it’s something I’ll always keep coming back to and trusting. The shorter boundaries are straight so my ramp shot brings them into play.”
